This week thanks to Grace, Jeff, Tom, SteveM, Lex and LJ’s juror8. Bit of a mixed bag this week, and I’ve been on a short break so excuse the mess. And please excuse the indie band doing pop cover – they DO love their cover versions, I promise. Their Yesterday Once More is terrific.
Next week is looking likely to be our first guest spot. Any more volunteers, and more songs to the usual address: poptimism.podcast@googlemail.com
UPDATE Aug 31st The inline player sounds like the regular mp3, but unfortunately some pitch distortion remain in the mp3. Just during track transitions, but it is annoying. sorry.

I HAVE to go and see Snakes On A Plane!
Fergie comes up trumps again, this is a truly amazing song.

Alang I wonder if you shouldn’t do a post on LJ about these too - would be nice to get more comments!
Tom on August 25th, 2006
I don’t remember “Concrete Schoolyard” being that slow! Has it been tampered with by the MP3 master?
The Tatu cover is unspeakable! Yes the man loves his cover versions but they are ALWAYS AWFUL!!

When will Americans learn that it is not London Bridge that goes up and down, it is Tower Bridge (or Towerbridge as TfL call it on some bus stops in the borough area).
Tom on August 25th, 2006
Fergie has confused falling down with going down. And let us hope that’s the only time.

Agreed, Concrete Schoolyard is about 10% slower than the version on my computer.
FT's Steve Mannion on August 25th, 2006
there is odd ‘pitch-bend’ shenanigans at the start of some of these tracks.
FT's Steve Mannion on August 25th, 2006
that Cinerama thing is TERRIBLE!
FT's Alan on August 25th, 2006
eek, there is something up with the speed for sure. it’s not the mp3 - which sounds ok when subscribed on an mp3 player as a proper podcast. but the inline player up there is playing slow! eek.
proper speed makes everything (except cinerama) sound better
FT's Alan on August 25th, 2006
AAARGH. the inline player can only cope with 44kHz encoding and somehow i’ve managed to do this every week but this one which i did at 48 (why? how?) so yes it’s running about 10% too slow. thanks to everyone spotting this. i will repost a sound corrected one when i can.

i heard pitch problems listening to the podcast in itunes fyi, but only at the start of a few tracks (and possibly all of J5 altho that sounded right pitch just slightly wrong speed).

yeah, i’m hearing these in the mp3 too now. esp noticeable at the start of the eiffel. i think a re-encode will be enough.
