Let’s Remove The Arm Barring The Way To Poptimism
That’s right, you heard it here now. The world famous, often imitated, always bettered, Freakytrigger Pop Music dancing and drinking club Poptimism has a new home. At least for a bit. Ousted cruelly by the new management at the Polar Bear a year ago we had been homeless, homeless, not even moonlight sleeping on a midnight lake. Well I went down the Polar Bear the other day AND IT WAS CLOSED! Any connection between their closure to their FASCISTIC POLICY ON POP CLUBS is easily demonstrable.
Well fear ye not, (what does the Pirate Virus do to ye - eh?) After a year wandering int the wilderness, occasionally poking its head into sweaty dives looking for sustenance, Poptimism has a new home. And people who enjoyed the last temp version at the Union Tavern, will be pleased to hear that this is the venue. A proper upstairs room in a pub. With a little serving hatch, oddly padded tables and with us needing to bring the gear. But dammit, the management and staff are so nice there, and it marries all the things we like about pubs with all the things we like about pop.
So Thursday 5th October: the Return Of Poptimism.
AKA Timtimism (as it is Tim’s Birthday)
Furthermore known as Mandee & Kelly-a-Rama (special guest DJ’s from across t’pond)
DJ’s include The Barnet Ape (who has refound his mojo), Carsmile and Cockfarmer, with guest Nu-country and Tickle Tune from Tim. Wait to see scenes of gentle carnage like below. And November and December dates to follow…

Any signs of a regular gig?
FT's Tom on September 19th, 2006
This sounds quite regular to me! (Well, 3 months anyway).

Is there a long-term agreement for Thursdays, or might that prove negotiable?
Anyway, I hope I can make the next one, and stay longer, though you know why that might not pan out. It will be good to see Mandee and Kelly again, if I can get there.

i’m trying to work out whose arm that is…
i think it is pete’s (fingernails is what i’m basing this on)
FT's Pete Baran on September 19th, 2006
Not me, I was wearing teh stripey T-Shirt that day.
Non-married, non-watch-wearing black T-shirt. I think YMOF took the photo so not him.
Hoping the move the rest to Firdays. Only Thursday this time because I can’t do the Friday. Ha ha.

Hmmph, that corner by the speaker was mine.

I don’t often comment, but a photo mystery appeals! I thought it was my arm for a moment, but the upcurve of the hand suggests Alex Sarll (of the LJ).

Aardvark are you the spooky person REFLECTED IN THE WINDOW yet not actually PHYSICALLY PRESENT IN THE ROOM? (earthly form = yes yes looks like colette BUT COLETTE EXISTS ON OUR SIDE OF THE MIRROR ALSO)
