Faint Praise: blimey I thought those money-grabbing game-bleeders were supposed to talk up their clients? Glenn Hoddle’s agent, discussing his charge’s inexplicable link with the job of managing the French football team, says (according to the BBC):
“We are still confident that we stand a good chance. People forget that Glenn had a few good years in Monaco – he is an attractive name in France.”
I think even I could come up with something more positive to say about Mr. Hoddle.
Hm. No, I was wrong. The best I can do is to repeat the sentence substituting “Swindon” for “Monaco” and “Wiltshire” for “France”.
