More on The Blue Posts: This time, the Rupert Street one which is pound for pound one of the best boozers in the area. Of course this is not exactly saying much. We are in the environs of Leicester Square and every spit you try out will hit a bad pub. Probably already covered in spit.
What is nice about this particular BP is its selection of beers, whilst not being a chain beer selling pub (ie like the Hogshead just round the corner). Its a pretty small pub, which like much of the irony in these things means it is rarely packed like sardines. The upstairs leaves a bit to be desired, there is s tiny bar up there which never seems to be open now – but downstairs is where it all happens. A good solid jukebox – with American Trilogy on it and the right kind of compilations to look challenging but be rewarding. Custom flickers as well, most people seem just to drink two or three pints then nick off. Nice for people watching – and the small size makes you quite likely to chat to some random punters.
Friday night they suffered under another Cider Armadillo attack from myself, Tom and Tim (who is being invited over here and his pub knowlege would certainly help round here). Tom took collateral damage whilst we just got increasingly pissed. Things happened afterwards which I am highly ashamed of – let’s just say that the Blue Posts – Rupert Street – is the kind of pub you can lose a whole night…
