aka t.A.T.u II: What ever happened to t.A.T.u: The Movie?
A few years ago, I blogged about the t.A.T.u Anime movie in production in Japan. t.A.T.u: PARAGATE apparently was to show our plucky lipstick (not) lesbians gamely saving the world from some sort of paranormal threat by pretending to be lesbians, but not being lesbians at all. Or maybe by being rubbish at Eurovision. Or some other plot. However we can assume it was not made as what with it being almost four years on and no sight of said movie has arrived. No real shock, films vanish without funding all the time. Though how a movie about t.A.T.u defeating demons through the power of NOT REALLY BEING IN LOVE didn’t get funding I don’t know. Not much remains of this project on the web except this picture, a reference on the Wikipedia page and my article.
But in doing a bit of research on the St Trinian’s movie I came across this. Young Mischa Barton appears to be starring in a film called You And I (Finding t.A.T.u). In it she plays a Russian teenager who meets an American teen at a t.A.T.u gig: here’s the official synopsis.
“Two teenage girls, Janie who is American and Lana who is Russian, fall in love after meeting at a t.A.T.u concert and are swept into a dangerous world of obsession, drug abuse and murder.”
Apparently filming wrapped in August and the film is directed by Oscar nominated (like that means ANYTHING) Roland Joffe. So its real. Whether it will make the cinemas over here is more shaky. But hey, they loves to make them movies about t.A.T.u.
