Or perhaps, not, Not, NOT!!! We were all very excited in the many chambers that comprimise my BRANE to see a new short (4 hrs gameplay according to the review) Sam and Max game is out – but how come I hadn’t read this previously in Edge magazine? Edge is my usual source for sycophantic w4nking over any Lucasart (complete or not) IP – but perhaps I didn’t buy that issue cos it had a stupid war game grumpy looking soldier on the cover? That’s usually why I don’t bother buying it…
Anyway! So after clicking through the above article, it links me to GameTap. “Oh!”, I think, “this must be a downloadable game!! EVEN BETTER!”, and start packing my bags to flee home via fastest method possible. But ahem, ermmm ERROR! It’s not just a downloadable game! Whatever “GameTap” even is, it’s ‘only available in the United States’. Ho hum so far so BOTHERED, Americans. I can always go straight to Telltale games anyway who aren’t so RUDDY FUSSY!
My questions are: 1/ Since when were games talked about as “episodes” and “seasons”? 2/ What IS this mysterious GameTap – can any American readers shed light? So far I’m guessing it might be a ‘streaming game’ thing? Don’t ask me, I’ve never played an online game in my life further than ‘Bejewelled’. Although I was part of a conversation (the silent part) on Monday about “Magic Online”. (A VERY silent part). 3/ Will new Sam and Max (if I ever manage to get it) be any good? I must admit that clichéd as it is, the original scaled a height of adventure games it’s hard to think of any better. Some might say that some of the puzzles stretched the concept of logic so far outside the box that it couldn’t even SEE the box – but trust me. The box was there. And if you couldn’t see the box, then – frankly – I am more than happy to play a game with great characterisation and storyline with a walkthrough! I’m far more keen on seeing what happens than wandering around endlessly looking for a key that’s actually a form of mystical energy captured in the form of a made up sister, frexample ahem…
