Supertroupers: from the same edition of the Guardian, a quiet demonstration of how it should be done, as Peter Paphides interviews two of ABBA. An experienced pop writer taking on and taking seriously a group he clearly has great affection for – the result is a gentle but interesting chat with two relatively press-weary stars. A few good insights, and Paphides tells a good story too:

“Five years ago, when the Sex Pistols’ 20th anniversary reunion tour came to London, John Lydon decided that the band should enter to the strains of Dancing Queen – the plan being to remind us how terrible music had become when the Sex Pistols came along. The idea backfired. On instant recognition of that piano flourish, the entire audience cheered and broke into spontaneous dancing.”
