The backlash backlash may be beginning, but the original backlash still has plenty of life in it. This story is time-honoured tabloid evil-pop-star-hysteria, the noteworthy thing being that it’s not a tabloid that’s running it, but the Sunday Times. Mind you you wouldn’t know from reading stuff like this: “[Eminem’s lyrics] are born of the “gangsta rap” tradition that emerged from black American ghettoes which condemns all women as whores and all men as drug-dealing rivals fit only to be gunned down, as some gangsta stars have been.”. Sorry, could you simplify that a little more?
Also, the first rule of reading the British press: any piece which refers to a young child as a “tot” can be discarded immediately.
