ONLY FOUR GROUP MATCHES LEFT, then the knockout rounds begin.
Congratulations to the group E victors, Netherlands and Cameroon who will be going through to meet yesterdays group F victors Paraguay and New Zealand in the round of 16.
Today sees the climax of the ALL TO PLAY FOR GROUP OF DEATH that is Group G. Cote d’Ivoire have every chance of going through, but are still NOT SAFE.
Tomorrow Group G will be decided – can Honduras keep its head above water? A decisive win in either match could shake things up and no mistake.
Portugal and Cote d’Ivoire are through, commiserations to Brazil and to the DPR of Korea
I think I can see the glorious KDPR leader in the distance. he’s shaking his fist and shouting something “i’ll be .. remains undefeated … peoples of the great and victo … will return … capitalism destroyed”
or something.
only ONE place left in the round of 16.
quick index of the scores
Harsh on North Korea who provided some of the most memorable moments of the tournament, but I can’t really argue with the final standings, Portugal and Ivory Coast have been in a different class.
WALLCHART UPDATE – with final Group round info, and the matches in the round of 16 filled in and waiting.
(I may have added stuff up wrong, but I’m pretty sure at least the match fixtures are def right)
So it’s HONDURAS going through along with SPAIN. Knockouts begin, sometime next week. Stay tuned for more definitive fixture times.
edit: GAH, i’ve messed up the score/% in Group G – missing out an entire match! However, the basic scores still stand. Here’s what it should be
BRAZIL 56pts 98% (4th)
KOREA 112pts 166% (3rd)
I COAST 95pts 171% (2nd)
PORTUGAL 120pts 165% (1st)
(note the polling software is dense and had one match add up to 102%, I have taken that into account)
