Crows

Yosa Buson 1716-83

An immensely varied and regularly surprising painter who seems to have taken influences from a rather wider range of sources than most. I think the two bird paintings here and on the Nanga page above are among the most potent such works I've seen (see also Sesson and Musashi). He was also considered a great haiku poet.
