Anime

I hope to expand this into a substantial section in the future, including TV animation.

Western animated imports were seen from about 1909. The first animators had no idea how this was done - so they drew, shot, erased, redrew, at first. The first feature anime was Peach Boy's Sea Eagle in 1943.

The form was advanced significantly by the great Osamu Tezuka (link below), and in recent years has achieved unprecedented critical and commercial success with the films of Hiyao Miyazaki (see directors section).
