Japanese Flower Arrangement: Classical and Modern by Norman Sparnon

The book is almost 50 years old, so not that modern. It's not a terribly smart book - he proves that design is more important than colour by pointing out that a well-designed arrangement will still look good in a B&W photo, whereas a colourful but poorly-designed one won't - but he's knowledgeable and reasonably well-organised. It's very heavy on technical detail and description, rather light on aesthetics.
