Kamui

Kamui is one of the samurai stories by Sampei (or maybe Sanpei - I've seen it both ways from respectable sources, and don't have a way of knowing which is correct) Shirato - it was he who made samurai stories into territory for realistic adult stories, from 1959 onwards. Kamui was a longrunning samurai/ninja tale with strong political elements, basically class war some of the time. It's also extremely violent, graphically so, and drawn with enormous energy.
