Book Collections

There are comics that go straight to book editions (there's been a major practice since manga's earliest days where the only publishing method was hardbacks that were never sold in shops, just aimed at libraries), but most are compiled after serialisation in anthology titles. The book collections - and the prestigious ones will get hardback versions - are generally in the 200-300 page range and come in a couple of common sizes. Successful series will be kept in print for a very long time (there are books from the 1930s still being reprinted), and individual volumes can sell millions.
