Anthologies

Comic series almost always start their lives as episodes of varying length (for dramas, generally at least 20 pages) in anthology titles, running on weekly, fortnightly or monthly schedules - for some reason, the boys' titles tend to the faster frequencies, women's comics to the slowest. They are mostly in the 200-400 page range, though some have topped 1,000 pages, and they sell very cheaply - generally for around the same as a Batman or Spider-Man comic in America or the UK. It's very unusual for anyone to keep these - they are read quickly and thrown away, and if you care about any of the particular stories - well, that moves forward to the next section...
