Konoe Nobutada, 1565-1614

Nobutada was an eccentric nobleman rather than a monk, but he's included here more because the image shown represents another odd calligraphic form: this painting of Tenjin, a Heian statesman and scholar, is partly (the cap and right sleeve) made up of characters reading ten and jin. This word-picture device, known as moji-e, seems to have become a popular trick in the Edo period.
