Banana Yoshimoto 1964-

I think Banana Yoshimoto is critically underrated because her work is so likeable and popular, as if those are weaknesses. I think she's a genuinely touching writer, especially about young people's disenchantment, and she's very good on relationships, with a wide view of what kinds there are.
