Hara's Umeda Sky Building

Hiroshi Hara, 1936-2007

This 1993 building in Osaka, known as the Umeda Sky Building, is one of my favourite skyscrapers - the top-level interconnection is something very special. I like him even more after reading this quote from him on one of his houses, built in 2003: "The materialisation of a complex semiotic field subject to temporal transformation is the essential concept of the design."
