Also the closing date has been extended to the end of the 2nd January, because you could in theory watch a film up to Midnight and then want to do your list and run out of time…

At the very least, it has Eddie Redmayne’s finest performance.

My gut feeling, though, is that it’ll be to me what A Whiter Shade of Pale was to Popular.

This, however few of us vote, will be a good thing. And I’ll also take the opportunity to welcome the fact that you are doing (apparently) regular writing about films again, Pete.

Re1: Since we’re not Oscar voters, clearly yes. Pete’s already said the films just had to have a 2015 release of some kind. Both my personal rule, and actually that of most publications I’ve ever written for, has been cinema releases 1 Jan to 31 Dec. I consider any British critics who put The Revenant etc in their 2015 lists to be, frankly, pricks. In the spirit of which, my list will include at least two films I saw in 2014 but weren’t available to a non-festival/special screening audience until this year.

Assume we can still choose Selma, Birdman, Inherent Vice etc.?
