Another day, another popular music figure leaves us – this time in very sad circumstances. It’s farewell to Colin Vearncombe, better known as Black, who has died from injuries suffered in a car crash in Co. Cork a couple of weeks ago. He had two major hits in 1987: ‘Sweetest Smile’ (which just missed the top spot but is rarely heard now) and the sublime ‘Wonderful Life’, which remains a staple of oldies radio. RIP.
