Nagare's World Trade Centre plaza sculpture

Masayuki Nagare 1923-

An immensely prolific sculptor with a complicated biography (living in temples for years; a father who wanted his son to be a samurai; a fighter pilot in WWII...), there are two major strands to his work: bold and rough figurative works, and thrusting abstract shapes. That shown on this page was a large granite sculpture, lost after the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
