Hyakunin-isshu

The Hyakunin-isshu (Anthology of the Hundred Poets) was compiled around 1235 by the poet Fujiwara Sadaie (1162-1241). It's worth a mention because of its continuing popularity: Lesoualc'h claims that "Every Japanese must know the contents by heart."
