Philosophy

I'm not sure I have one, much. My instincts are pluralist, and I'm not really interested in any hierarchy of artforms. I don't believe that there is some inferiority inherent in comics or TV as compared to painting or poetry, or that one form is less worthy of interest than others. I'm not interested in them all equally by any means, nor do I value them all equally, but that is about my taste and grasp of the forms, not any estimation of their intrinsic worth. How much I love or value something won't necessarily determine its prominence here either - I'll try to deal with things that seem important to some degree, as the site develops, but prominence will often depend on when I have something I want to say about a form or artist or whatever. This means that I might not have much interest in comments like 'this movie/painter/book deserves more space' - unless you tell me interesting things about them to sell me on that view. On the other hand, I do eventually want to build, for example, some sort of coherent narrative of Japanese painting, so will have to consider balance to a degree. Still, this is a personal site, not an academic or encyclopaedic resource.
