Shoka

The shoka style has a similar shape to the rikka, but is vastly simplified. The tripartite asymmetrical arrangement with a strong vertical is an ancient one - you can see it in the centre of the 12th Century Choju-Giga scrolls, in front of a frog-buddha.

backwards: rikka

forwards: rikyu
