Links with animation

Go back to the page on Tezuka and animation for key early moments. Japan's is now the biggest animation industry in the entire world, and on an average week well over a hundred different animated shows appear on major Japanese TV channels. Most of these are adapted from comics, and sometimes by the original artists (as with Tezuka), but the links work in other ways too. With the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, one of its designers then adapted it to comics. Similarly, world-famous director Hiyao Miyazaki adapted his own Nausicaa into comics, and magnificently so. Less impressively, rubbish comics have been hacked out by taking stills from the animation, and adding word balloons.
