Architecture in Japan by Philip Jodidio
This is actually restricted to contemporary buildings, since 2000. The small white text
on gold backgrounds requires decent eyesight and the right lighting, even when the page
isn't poorly printed. I'm all for art books looking good, but don't make the text almost
unreadable unless you don't want us to read it, which is surely an uncommon aim. There
isn't much text anyway, to be honest, though what there is is certainly knowledgeable.
The selection is very good, and the photos are large and excellent, though occasionally
they almost duplicate each other when you want a different view, and the plans and
diagrams are pretty cursory. More of a coffee table book than something to learn much from.
