Don’t get me wrong, I’m All Ears is a fine album. I take the point about wearing the clothes of modern pop to stage your own story (my, perhaps more cynical, take was that they’d decided to focus on the more commercial aspects of their sound in order to, y’know, not starve.) It just didn’t hit me with the same WTF factor as the first album which felt genuinely hard to pigeon hole. It also felt doubly unsettling for such macabre stuff to be written and sung by actual children. A lot of similar acts seem to shoot for this sort of other-worldliness and end up feeling contrived (to me at least) but I never get the impression LEG are working for it. [Humblebrag: they topped this list of hotly tipped new bands, above my band at #11! https://louderthanwar.com/top-50-new-bandsartists-for-2015-part-2/%5D

I’m with you on Steflon Don: she definitely has her moments but my attention keeps drifting whenever I stick her on.

Cab Calloway: I am far more bothered by non-period re-recording than I should be. Actually, I’m not bothered if I know it’s a re-recording but it unsettles me if I’m not sure whether I’m listening to the original or not. That’s weird, isn’t it?
