It’s a concept album about the Great War which is better than The Final Cut: you couldn’t have dreamed of such a thing but hey, Piano Magic have pulled it off with Artist’s Rifles, or so sez Tim. By an astounding synchronicity I bought the record today, and am now on my third listen. Yes, it’s very good, though Glen Johnson’s voice is a bit…well….American. If you want more fragile, airy, vaporous un-rock like this (and also not at all like this), then be sure to check out The Clientele, who I saw live a little while ago and didn’t much enjoy, but who sound on tape like something a little bit special. If the kind and lovely other Tim who gave me the tape would tell me about any releases, I’d be sure to mention them here.
