There is also the more general argument for outsourcing a process - the prospective client is too busy and it makes sense to employ an &quot;expert&quot; to look after that process. Of course, being able to adequately identify that expert is a completely different essay...</description>

		<description>Perhaps the &quot;industry&quot; is not inevitable, but the research trade is, in one incarnation or another.  It&#039;s just like journalism: maybe some parts of the industry are dying, but someone who can write stuff that other people want to read will still be able to make a living, for the forseeable future.</description>
