Just a note to those who know the area. I was reliably informed by some Brightonians on Monday that the excellent Battle Of Trafalgar (turn right then up the hill from the station) has recently lost its Bar Billiards table. For shame if this is true, bar billiards is the king of pub sports and should flourish wherever it finds a home. Has a nice little garden too The Battle.

Brighton in general is a haven for tiny corner pubs when you hit the residential hills. Being in two on Monday reminded me that a local is not just about location and bonhomie. Its also about the people in them. Said pubs were empty and therefore we had to bring out own entertainement. Still it was better than the soulless mile long bar at the racetrack which tempted me to drink very little, as my drinking/betting stake was whittled away.
