“Here I am trying to work out something about quietness, and excess. The songs here seem great examples of theatrical phrasing, stage whispering, and the possibilities of being over the top without shouting, belting, mellisma, or other typical vocal tricks. I want to know what you can still do, when the mike is turned down.”
