I suppose I ought to provide interested downloaders with a summary of the 1986 Westland row which saw Michael Heseltine leave the Tory cabinet but i) Heseltine never became Prime Minister anyway so it hardly matters and ii) I’ve forgotten most of it. Smiley may not be the most reliable witness though.
