Spinning records: frothy Salon piece on Bush and Gore’s use of pop music in their campaigns, included mostly because it’s the first substantial music article Salon have run all week, and it’s in the Politics section! Salon’s Arts And Entertainment site, formerly the home of some pretty good music writing and a steady supply of record reviews, seems to have had its pop coverage axed by stealth. The last music piece I can remember before this was the dire report on Kindercore’s Expo 2000, and it seems like weeks since a meaty review. Light film and TV pieces, meanwhile, dominate. A shame.
