BRITPOP — A Short History (in capsule form) of British Pop Music
BRITPOP — A Short History (in capsule form) of British Pop Music: Every couple of years I think about updating my History of UK Indie, tinkering around a bit more and expanding some sections - there needs to be lots more on Factory Records, more on Goth, and a lot more on the post-Belle And Sebastian resurgence in what you might jokily call “roots indie”.
I’m always inspired to do this when I search the web for any kind of general history of alternative music - basically, there’s nothing out there. The search occasionally leads you to other gems, though, like this piece on British pop music in the sixties: an excellent factual companion to Robin Carmody’s thinkpieces on the topic.
Or of course, you could always go here…

There isn’t any information about Britpop here! I came on to do some homework and all I find is a peice of shitty crap about crap! Tom, you obviously have nothing better to do than fill the internet with your crap about crap!

It’s like the Vauxhall Corsa ad with those glove puppets, only unfunny.
