Well, indie does mean independent.
So it makes sence you all have different opinions of what it is.
But it doesn’t mean everyone else by that label has to live by the same rules you do.
This world is full of followers, but I truely respect the independent individuals…
To me, indie is an individuals perpective, and way of living…
This ofcourse is my opinion, I have never met an indie, so I believe, but I recently read about them…and they sound pretty cool, cool as in chill, and REAL.
Every person puts a twist into their label characteristics, its what makes each of us unique :)
emos are NOT cutters(anyone can cut, but not everyone does it) emo as in emotional is a way an individual expresses themselves…and this is what most of their lifes consist…also, they express themselves in artistic ways…they are not whiners, and when ppl say they’re not afraid to express their feelings they it does not mean they cry and whine in front of ppl and bring everyone down…but more like show who they are and without caring about anyones judgments x]
You can’t steal materialistic ways(like converse and style, style to me is a form of art, something you wear not to please someone else but yourself, and a way to identify someone who might have simalar interests)…
To me, only a poser can go wrong, because they are the only ones trying to fit in weather its mainstream or not…THEY NEED TO FIND THEMSELVES, IT SHALLOW TO BELIEVE EVERYTHING IS BASED ON POPULARITY(or can you figure out another reason why to be poser but this and attention?)…what good is it…to gain attention, popularity…if no one understands you? I love the few friends I have, I’m not a popular girl, but what matters to me is that I have close friends, some that will always be their for me…
Tell me this, would you rather have a million useles broken tools, or a single useful one that will last you forever..?idk, thats my way of viewing things.
I’m sure many ppl, not most but many, believe in this.

NOT TO MENTION THAT MY OWN MORAL, VALUES, AND ETHICS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING <3 as this should be for anyone.

I do like some mainstream my self, I don't care if ppl think I'm into what they believe is noise, or lousy music…beauty is in the eye of the beholder…its ironic bcus to me, they're the ones w/ bad the taste of music, but its my own perspective/opinion…no need to get worked over right? I don't get worked over :)

A band becomes succesful and makes a living of what they love, is that why you hate mainstream? Well I don't listen to my bands depending on popularity, its the lyrics, the beat, the meaning, the beauty, and the connection I have w/ my genres and songs…MUSIC=MY LIFE

So no one is right, or wrong, because no one can actually live by a label…which is why I don't believe in labels…I like ppl down who to earth and strait up, real ppl :)

We don’t just like indie music, you know. I listen to metal (not too heavy. Nothing heavier than Stone Sour), and alternate. But it doesn’t really matter than indie kids won’t talk to you, because there are hardly any of us left because music is being taken over by wannabe rocks bands like Paramore and Fall out Boy or shitty pop like Rhianna and Little Boots etc…
Btw I’m eleven, just entering all this High School shit.

Do remember to be regular about your workouts though. As you workout regularly, your fitness level will generally improve, but skipping sessions here and there will mean that this improvement will come a lot slower than it otherwise would.

Okay, so I do really like indie music, I love vintage fashion and perhaps 50% of my wardrobe comes straight from the St.Vinnie bin. So to some extent I suppose that makes me indie-ish. But right now, I would honestly hate anyone to even consider me a mild part indie. The way you all talk to each other is foul, seriously. My impression of ‘indie kids’ was that they are cheerful, genuine and witty like their music. But from what you guys display through your comments all i see are ignorant human beings, who lack in any form of respect, tolerance or acceptance for others. So, what if emo’s ‘stole’ converse… It’s a shoe move on. Not to mention the fact that you are all contradicting the ‘Independent’ thing. You all seem to be same. To me being ‘independent’ is not relying on other peoples opinions and judgements, but rather basing your likes and dislikes on your own and simply sharing that with others and being accepting of the differences. And maybe, next time some one ask’s you what your are, take the simply and honest answer and just say…”Me.”

So, I’m just going to point out that everyone seems to have their own definition of this scene.. (indie kids do drugs, they dont do drugs; we ALL like to drink, we’re all straight-edge. )I’m a tad confused and it seems everyone else is, too. People who may lable themselves “indie” kids might all have a different view of what an indie kid is and to say that they are all mean and bitchy and blahblahblah is like saying all democrats want to legalize marijuana or like saying all christians hate gays. You’re all arguing over something oddly pointless, but I suppose laughing at you all has made my day a better one.

By including yourself in the fashion genre ‘indie’, you are completely contradicting the word independent, rather, further supporting brand names and record labels. You kids will do anything to be cool. Even if it means dressing like a loser and listening to horrible music. There’s nothing arty or poetic about being ‘indie’. Poe and Warhol were, respectfully, poetic and arty. The Fratellis and Death Cab for Cutie, I’m sorry to say, are not. Besides, there will always be next year’s fad and ‘indie’ will be no more.

I am constantly being called indie for the music i listen to, however i disagree that i am indie which, apparantly just makes me even more indie :D
