The Best Of UK Garage 2000
The Best Of UK Garage 2000: Tim reviews the year in garage, a fine piece which has been linked on the front page for a couple of days now but of course me being me, and crap, the link didn’t work. Now it does.

I can’t find this link, just get a dumb ad. Is it still working? So keen to find out more about the year 2000.
i can’t find any remnants of that article sorry, but here’s the 2001 version we rescued from static-html-file limbo http://freakytrigger.co.uk/ft/2002/07/garage01_2/
i might dig around on archive.org…
sorry lineman, Alan Admin may be able to retrieve the article (I’ve had a look but no luck) but in the meantime its author Tim Finney has a great blog http://getphysical.blogspot.com/ and there should be some turn of the century musings on UKG in the archives there.
xpost!

i might take a copy and back-date publish it here
more tim f stuff from the wayback machine http://web.archive.org/web/20010412190455/www.netcomuk.co.uk/~tewing/gartim.html, as it says adapted from an earlier posting on his skykicking blog which steve linked to ^^
Good idea. How easy is it to find out what else is missing? Can help restore…
ok, so i’ve re-published that and the original link now works (via some re-direction magic)
how easy is it? hmm, well there are tools out there that can harvest dead links in the db (obv not so bothered by dead links that lead to external sites). i’ll let you know.
when we went to WP we (istr Tim H helping a lot with this) did incorporate ~150 static html files of longer special articles from the older netcomuk/ft.com sites that we’d kept throughout the ‘blogger’ era too.
they’re relatively easy to incorporate into WP as you can just put the filename into the ‘URL slug’ when you publish it and the re-direction trick gets the old links working again.
Many thanks chaps. Tim’s pieces are really worthwhile – so much I need to investigate.
