First and formost this man was not a sexist nor did he write this song. I am a for Equlity one hundred percent and would consider myself a feminist. but i love dock boggs and music from this time very much. Do you really think that he condoned such actions like this? Did you know that he had nothing but respect for his wife who was infact a WOMAN who made him stop playing this music because she thought it was wrong and he did. Who was taught by black bluesmen whom he also had much love for. Did he murder this girl? No Kurt Cobain wrote a song about rapeing a girl from the rapist point of view because he was outraged by it. not because he condoned it. Also is not singing from the killers point of view He is the narrator If you noticed the words “HE” when the killer says something. This is a story. more then antying written by a person who was lamenting the death of a woman by a man like this because this how they wrote songs through story telling and thangs that had happend. If I wrote a song about my dad beating my wife would I be a sexist for telling the story?? Another thing to look at is “rambling” was frowned apon at that time and still is now. This could also be seen as a anti-hobo song but i don’t see that in your post. You need to look out side of your little world and look at things depper then gender and or race.
