Bagley is a strange case really - he has gained a lot of popularity, not basically because his art is very good - however much you paint or prettify it it looks like a sustained homage to mid-80s Marvel fill-in issues - but for a couple of other reasons viz.

i. he's "one of the fans" - he got his break as the winner of the competition in the Official Marvel Try-Out Book.

ii. he's against ALL the prevailing artist trends: he's very quick (you'd never have guessed), he gets work in bang on time, and he shows enormous loyalty to titles he works on - his USM run broke Stan and Jack's record for consecutive Marvel issues by a creative team.

He's now left Marvel to go and do the 08-09 DC weekly book, drawing 12 pages every week. To be fair he's certainly the only 'name' US artist who could do this, and to be even fairer his stuff is actually better than a lot of the really crappy art we saw on 52.
