Massively Multiplayer Duran Duran

Duran Duran to give virtual gigs [bbc news]

You might think that’s odd, but I’d missed that the BBC did this themselves back in May with a Radio 1 gig. The real event was largely shown on a “large” virtual screen on a stage, with some DJs enjoying a digital presence (or “avatar” as I believe the kids call them).

See. Surely the Duran’s themselves will appear in their 80s avatar selves, or there will be a virtual uproar. Just a TV screen of them would not be enough. Imagine the crowd surfing! The band could even fly!

Even Paxman has done an interview this way it would seem. Bono missed a trick here. Possibly cos he couldn’t pronounce MMORPG.

Try and say MMORPG without saying Mmmmm.

How do you pronounce it then smartypants. And it it just me that find the first M - Massively - a little bit self-aggrandising?
