The Dun-A-Ri

The Dun-A-Ri - yes that is an Irish name and hence it has been given the epitaph of The Irish Bar. High praise indeed to be given the definite article in a city full of Irish pubs after all. However it is more an echo of The Spanish Bar (which really doesn’t have a name) - for it is an after hours boozer. Not only that but its one which happily lets groups of pissed revellers in after standard closing time. Happily is probably a bit of a misnomer. I daresay their very nice bouncers would see you away if you are lary, but that never happens.

Its biggish, has a pool table and it used to do late door karaoke on a Wednesday. But in essence its open til 2am most nights (only 12 on a Sunday -pah), and its right by my night bus stop which will do me. Anyone who thinks it is scary has never seen a horror movie. Bottom of the Caledonian Road - not to be mistaken for the Flying Scotsman.
