A sacred cow to the slaughter?

A sacred cow to the slaughter?

a few birthday drinks for a friend were scheduled at the George (you know, the one in Borough), a pub i like but, as Tim says appears to be one of London’s sacred cow pubs. Always un-dissable, never criticised, a good place for a pint. But….. they’ve done it up, yellow walls (an almost scream yellow), sanded all the tables and you remember that lovely old, dark wooden bar? Now sandblasted and the bar counter, according to Vicky “may not even be wood”. It’s a terrible terrible thing so it is. Obviously I’ll end up going back as many friends like it and it’s good for a crowd of people, but it won’t be top of my list.
