That badly researched piece (London’s Rising pub indeed) probably refers to the Rising Sun on Carter Lane in the City - which would make a degree of sense. A little bit more about the initially spurious sounding St Andrew By The Wardrobe parish can be read about here - of which said Rising Sun is part of the parish. I’m trying to hunt down a copy of The Publican for that week to find out more - but ideas like this are a bit of a throwback to pointless pagentry, might as well have pearly kings and queens cleaning your pub toilets. Actually, not a bad idea….
