Your points happen to be repeated in this quatrain, which was written a long while ago by four people taking a line each:

The demand for peas is inelastic

By the juices in my stomach, which are gastric

(In fact Tom provided the last two lines, having dismissed the initial contender for penultimate place, “The four we read about are fantastic”, on grounds of topic deviation.)

Here in China pea is one of the most popular ice cream flavours. Can’t find decent frozen peas though, just nasty dried ones.

The Best Pea Puree:

2 cups of frozen peas
half cup of fresh veg/chicken stock
1 good fistful of fresh mint
juice and zest of half a lime
salt + pepper to taste

Bung all the above in a blender and blitz for 20 seconds.

Artfully adorn your plate with puree alongside scallops or salted cod or lamb chops or fish cakes or chicken goujons etc. etc.

Hazel the proper name of your pea recipe at the end is Pea Solero Shots (THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE SOLERO SHOTS KNOWN TO MANKIND).

Really tasty tapas salad. 50% green lentils cooked. 50% frozen peas cooked. wasted in cold tap water to cool down and then the juice of one lime and the salt of one salt. Om nom nom.

we have a friend who is a fisherman in the seychelles — he visited us once for the winter, back when i shared my flat with not-then-doctrah b3cky (she met him while staying with a college friend of hers who lives and teaches there)

he was an excellent cook — esp. of all types of fish — but peas he had never encountered: he liked them, but could never remember their name, and thus always referred to them, AS NOW WILL YOU, as “those small green b4lls”
