I recently picked up one of these cut-price at the supermarket which meant that it was in a pretty runny state. The smell was more pungent than the taste surprisingly but I enjoyed it a lot – although I’m not so sure I could get through half a cheese in one sitting. Perhaps I should try it with alcohol next time.

The one that I fed you was also pretty mild and not too stinky, I think – but not pasturised. I have had it properly stinky, too! It’s actually not as bad as the DIRE WARNINGS make it seem. It is stinky washed rind stenchy, but really nicely balanced about it.

I liked this cheese when you introduced me to it a few months ago (and seem to remember that I ate quite a lot). I found it relatively mild; I was expecting something a LOT stinkier due to the DIRE WARNINGS I’d received about its whiffiness. Perhaps the pasteurised-ness explains this. I am afraid of what might happen if you ever do find a proper unpasteurised ripe one.
