If the whole point of the film is to see “something in 3D” there are plenty of theme park Cinema 360′s which do the job I am sure. As explained elsewhere, 3D films don’t work for my eyes, because my eyes do not work stereoscopically in the real world. As such i could have seen the 3D version, but it would have meant pointlessly wearing a pair of glasses.

Perhaps your question should be, if the only point of the film is to see something in 3D, why did they release a 2D version. My guess is that they thought, like many films, that there might be a story and characters people wanted to see too.

I’m sorry, if you refused to see it in 3D then why did you go? That’s the whole point of this film. You’ve wasted everyone’s time today.

The scene with the paddle ball was purposely done to remind people of the old way they did 3-D. The rest of the movie used the 3-D effects to immerse the audience into the movie and didn’t have that effect in the opening scene.
