Tootie Frooties need to be sucked for a while to make them soft enough. It is a well-known rookie error to try crushing them between your teeth; bits of them can shear off if you do that. Mind you, if you think Jelly Tots are bizarrely sweet, I tried a packet of Rolos recently. Christ alive, there’s no taste but burned sugar.

Yes! Jelly babies hold up well into adulthood.

More findings from the “Rowntree’s Pick’n'Mix” bag:

- Fruit Gums are a lot softer than they used to be (thankfully for my teeth)

- You can definitely taste the “real fruit juice” in Fruit Pastilles, but unfortunately it makes them taste slightly off.

Of course I’m only eating them because the baby’s too young for them, you understand.

Somebody bought a bag of Jelly Tots into my old workplace, and I was astonished by the absolutely concentrated sweetness of them - even by the standards of confectionary.

I could almost feel the enamel of my teeth dissolving as I chewed one. They must be like taking crack or something to a two year olds’ constitution.
