Nice job. Good points about Bradbury's attachment to the nuclear family and the general sense of dread that surrounds many of his short stories (if the Bad Thing hasn't already happened, it's just around the corner). Tho' that has a lot to do with the times he was writing most of these tales in. I think he was convinced man would destroy the planet with atomic weapons sooner rather than later given the number of stories he wrote where this actually happens.

More thoughts on Sluggasmox in a day or two hopefully.

also ZOMG Joe Jackson :o :D

By the way, the automatically generated keywords for this entry conclude with "bite tales lots talk". Sounds about right.

Darn - for a second there I thought there was something I knew that you didn't. I live in hope.

The download counter's reset to zero so I think my swap has been successful! Let me know if it gives you any further chipmunk symptoms.

(my dubdobdeeal beauty sleep was troubled by the feeling i had made an idiot of myself over the question why is bradbury's "the veldt" called "the veldt": my idiocy is rooted in the fact that -- having not reread it for c.35 years -- i was totally misremembering not so much its content as its mise-en-scene: viz that the kids in question DON'T proprammke their virtual reality machine to reproduce a max-of-the-wild-things type FOREST or hogboblin-of-moomin-mountain-seque JUNGLE, as an ynormal kids would... you'd have thought i could have worked out what they did instead by reference to the title of the story! but no... )

Erk yes I have done this in such a way that the Flash player will play it wrong, sometimes. I'll see about putting up a different version but in the meantime you can download it or subscribe to the podcast.
