'p4rk writers (present co excepted) continue to have terrible taste always and 4eva.'

but they got it right last year!

'D.A.N.C.E.' is probably Justice at their most groovable/danceable, largely on account of the funky guitar loop which is the closest they get to Daft Punk. I think you can dance to it provided you are either a) very very good (like enough to do Jacko-esque twirls without looking silly, and there aren't many occasions where this can really be done) or rubbish enough to be content to just shuffle to the beat for 3 minutes, which is actually most people.

Yes, an exemplary review there from the Guardian's Voice Of Youth, which does rather raise the bar for my own forthcoming effort (Rihanna and Ciara are coming to town tomorrow).

Anyone who has witnessed the frequent sight of the Lex being borne bodily into Club Poptimism at quarter to one of a morning will know that he is indeed real and does exist.

Good review, the Rihanna <a href=http://music.guardian.co.uk/live/story/0,,2228993,00.html>one</a>.

My mother was asking whether Rihanna was really that good, having read about her in the Guardian. I explained that she was, but to be cautious about the review, written as it was by The Lex who is, of course, a fictional character dreamt up by Tom, Pete and Mark S one drunken evening.

my mind boggles at <strike>why anyone would want</strike> MIDDLE-AGEDNESS <strike>to be a component of their hipster dance music. ffs, indie kids</strike>.

There, corrected.

That choice of Jay-Z track is boggling - the other brass-heavy one they listed further down is WAY better. The way Jay-Z says the word 'shit' over and over is just ear-grating - I'd much rather hear him talking about how much money he has, and how he'd like to buy me a drink. Cheers!

I think the middle-agedness of "All My Friends" and "Someone Great" is SORT OF THE POINT Lex! If the average age of P4K staff was 25 rather than 30 (I'm guessing) a different track would have hit #1 I think.

this really is a dreadful top 10 I think, apart from 'umbrella' which was inevitable anyway, and 'paper planes' (and even then voting for the rmx seems completely counter-intuitive). I never clicked with the ugk track and can list literally 50 superior hip-hop singles this year off the top of my head. jay-z surely only there because he's a name indie writers recognise. lcd soundsystem - quite apart from his fucking voice it's an extremely dull, tasteful album. it feels very middle-aged, and the emotional bits are so heavily signposted that they leave me cold.

justice are terrible and fundamentally don't understand dance music (you CAN'T DANCE TO IT), animal collective are a long-standing nemesis of mine, panda bear completely pointless (always did hate the beach boys, and they seem to be trying to be the beach boys without tunes), and I'm still convinced you're all playing an elaborate joke at my expense by pretending to like battles.

in short: p4rk writers (present co excepted) continue to have terrible taste always and 4eva.
