Surely they must be a bit screw ed now, with H&M and Uniqlo offering better made and styled clothes for the same price and Primark dominating the ultra-low end market?

The best thing was the fake branding they created around their paper-thin 'cut-price designer' ruse. I am wearing my grey Matinee jeans (£6, down from £50!) as I write this and my horrific Petroleum shoes (think something a teenage scally would wear for a court appearance or to the sort of nightclub that appears in Street Wars) survived being run over by a bus.

“serious fashion qn: why do plain T-Shirts, polo shirts etc. without a pattern cost more than ones with a crap pattern? They can’t be more expensive to make, right?”

I always figured it was like the excess salt and sugar in cheap ready meals - the garish patterning distracting from the poor quality of the construction.
