If you dislike Good Charlotte…
- …you are much more likely to think dance music sounds better on drugs.
- …you are much less likely to be put off dancehall by homophobic lyrics.
If you like Good Charlotte…
- …you are much more likely to listen to music in a foreign language.
- …you are much more likely to think the Beatles were one of the greatest bands ever.
- …you are more likely to think of yourself as indie.

This is my favourite thing to have been in the Top 40 so far this year, by the way.
It’s probably the record that’s grown on me most: I started out being broadly but vaguely positive, which is my standard starting point for anything remotely Young People’s Emo, but every time I hear it I like it more. There’s some strange alchemy here, the ridiculous stream-of-consciousness lyrics just blur into a relentless tuneless grind (like, in a good way), so my attention fixes onto the guitars and finds them perfect. plus: falsetto hook, not to be sneered at.
